Upcoming Events
Jax Pub Crawl – January 25th
We have planned another club only event for our members. This event will be a pub crawl across the many breweries in Jacksonville; we will take a party bus so our members can enjoy the days festivities without the worry of how to get there and back. Breweries on the itinerary: Engine 15, Green Room, Bold City, Intuition, Aardwolf and Mile Marker. Cost is $30 per person. NOTE – You MUST be current on your annual dues (2014) to attend this event.
We are leaving at 8am and will get h0me around 9pm. Bring snacks and beer to share on the bus. SAAZ will provide some beer for the bus and light snacks at two of the stops. There will also be food trucks available at a few stops. We will be drinking all day, don’t forget to eat something!
Space Coast Craft Beer Festival – February 22nd – The Broken Barrel Tavern
We are looking for as many volunteers from SAAZ as we can get. Sign up at the January Meeting or email Dave. We also need your kegs of homebrew to serve at the SAAZ booth, let Dave know if you have some beer to donate or can brew in time for the event. Remember SAAZ reimburses members for kegs donated!
St. Baldricks’s Shave Event – March 15th – The Avenue Viera
Join the Largest Volunteer Funding effort for Childhood Research Grants in the WORLD! Sign up today to have a GREAT Time and help a kid! Don Ferris has set up a SAAZ team, come join him and support our charity of choice for the Bottoms Up Beer Run! http://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/88362/2014
Hunahpu’s Day Bus Trip – canceled
We were planning to take a party bus to Hunahpu’s Day at Cigar City but it is now a ticketed event and we cannot guarantee that all SAAZ Members could get in. We canceled the bus trip and are in the process of planning another pub crawl to Tampa! Save the date of April 5th and stay tuned for more info.
2014 Dues
If you want to be included in all the fun events SAAZ has coming up, it’s time to renew your membership. Dues are due now for the 2014 year. Dues can be paid to the Treasurer (Sean Gregg) at any club meeting or online at our website via PayPal Click here to pay.
Individual Membership = $15
Couple’s Membership = $25
Lifetime Membership = $150
Upcoming Competitions
Big Bend Brew Off – January 17/18th – Tallahassee, FL
16th Annual Domras Cup Mead Competition – February 1st – Savannah, GA ENTRY DEADLINE 1/24/14
- 3 commercial beers in 3 different styles have been chosen:
- IPA: Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA
- Porter: Sierra Nevada Porter
- Belgium: Saison Dupont
- Each Center selects the 3 best beers from all 3 styles
- Could be one from each style
- Could be all from one style
- Could be any combination of the 3 styles
- Additional points given to the homebrew that tastes most like the commercial equivalent (actual scoring is TBD)
- All entries will be sent to a single judging location (TBD)
- Entries due in early April 2014
- Competition / judging will be held the end of April 2014

SAAZ Library
Have you ever wanted to read up on how to make different styles of beer? Or perhaps you would like to see different techniques for brewing. If so, the SAAZ Library may have what you are looking for!! You can view the entire list of publications Here. If you see something that interests you, simply send an email to SAAZLibrarian@gmail.com with your name and the publication title, and the Librarian will bring it to the next monthly member meeting.
Raffle
Do you have some homebrew supplies that you don’t use anymore? Maybe you upgraded or maybe you prefer another product? Consider bringing your dusty supplies to the next meeting for the raffle. We have brewers of all experience levels, so I am sure we can put any brewing supplies to use!
