We know you all love craft beer. And we want to spend more time together having fun and giving back to our sponsors, so we are trying a monthly happy hour. This will be really great for places that are too busy/small for meetings. Check the newsletter and Facebook for details. We will vary the times, locations and days of the week to try to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Commander SAAZ

Interplanetary Homebrew Blastoff

CSAAZ New

This year’s event was held October 2nd-3rd at the Cocoa Beach Hilton.

The 21st Commander SAAZ was another great competition, we judged 750 entries in 29 categories! We drank a lot of great beers together and had some fun too. Thank you to all the help getting this task completed. Without you this wouldn’t be the best competition in the universe!

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, feedback, want to help next year, pictures to share, anything Commander SAAZ related… please email our 1st VP cmdr.saaz@saaz.org.

Upcoming SAAZ Officer Elections

SAAZ Meetings and Events don’t happen by themselves, they take a team of amazing officers to plan these fun activities.om beer

Have you ever wondered what goes into making our monthly parties and Commander SAAZ such a success? Do you new ideas that you think could benefit the club? Would you like to help decide what events the club participates in? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then becoming a SAAZ officer is a good fit for you!

Announcing SAAZ Intraclub Brew Challenge

Back by popular demand, SAAZ is continuing a quarterly Intraclub Brew Challenge. We would like to encourage more brewing in the club and provide more feedback to our brewers. Each quarter the club will announce the challenge ingredient/style and requirements. Members will need to sign up to participate since SAAZ will be providing a special ingredient. Brewers will then have 3 months to brew the beer and then bring to a meeting for feedback and competition. Prizes will be awarded.

CHALLENGE #1 – Dr. Rudi SMASHhoppy guy

Get your hops sacks ready and your boil kettles clean!  SAAZ has purchased a limited amount of hops and will be giving it away to our club members!  Here are the details: Starting at our SAAZtoberfest party on October 24th, SAAZ members who have paid their 2016 dues are eligible to receive up to 5 oz of Dr. Rudi hops.  Members will brew a SMASH (Single Malt, Single Hop) using 2-row or Maris Otter and featuring Dr. Rudi hops.  Then, at our January meeting, we will have some expert beer judges evaluate the beers.

The amount of hops is limited, and they will be available on a first come, first serve basis, per the guidelines above.  Now get ready to do some brewing!
