December BREWZletter

“It’s not goodbye, it’s just til next time!” says my favorite singer Brent Smith from Shinedown and that’s how I feel. I’m not going anywhere. It has been a great 2 years! I have loved serving the club as your president. We have welcomed a few new members and worked to focus the club on brewing with enhanced education topics and brewing opportunities. I hope membership in SAAZ has been rewarding to you. I know I have gained a lot from the club. The club is headed in the right direction and I know our next president will lead us to greatness. I hope to manifest some major medal winning in 2024 and can’t wait for our wort share later this month. Have a wonderful holiday season full of love and cheer! May 2024 be your best year ever.

Anne Gregg, SAAZ President

Dirty Oar Wort Share

The Dirty Oar Wort Share date has been set!!!
Saturday December 23rd is the best date for them and is exactly 6 weeks from the Brewer’s Bash so you will have time to ferment your beer.
Basic premise – brewers will receive freshly brewed wort from Dirty Oar (5-15gal). Brewery is able to produce 120 gallons so spots are limited. Thinking a pilsner/pale malt mix. You will then take the wort and finish the brewing process with your personal flare. You can bring your tent/set-up and brew on premise in the parking lot. Alternatively you can come and collect the wort in a carboy and bring it home if your setup is not portable. There are no rules, brewers may add hops, fruit, spices, additional grains, make it your own. We would like to serve a keg of each beer at the Brewer’s Bash and host a people’s choice competition. Just like the Beach Fly wort share there will also be a panel of judges picking their favorite and the winner will brew with Chris at Dirty Oar. Please keep in mind that your recipe needs to be cost efficient to make for the taproom. Modifications may be necessary to scale up production.  Email prez@saaz.org to let me know how many gallons of wort you need. Over 50 gallons are already reserved!
More details to come soon.
