We would like to encourage more brewing in the club and provide more feedback to our brewers. Each quarter the club will announce the challenge ingredient\/style and requirements.<\/h3>\n<h3>RULES:<\/h3>\n<h3>1) Must be a current SAAZ Member with dues paid.<\/h3>\n<h3>2) Sign-up for the challenge at a meeting &#8211; General or Officer. The supplies for each challenge are limited and to keep things fair for all we will not accept sign-ups at any other time.<\/h3>\n<h3>3) Must pick up any special ingredients at a SAAZ Meeting (General or Officer), we will not make special arrangements to deliver items.<\/h3>\n<h3>4) Bring 6 &#8211; 12 oz bottles or a 64 oz growler of your beer to the designated meeting for judging.<\/h3>\n<h3>5) SAAZ will provide a prize for the winner of the challenge. Dan Markey\u00a0won the competition.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #2\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0BEAN Me Up Scotty<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAndrew Carpenter wowed everyone at the Spring Party with his Coffee Mead.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #3 \u2013 SPRING FLING<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSean Gregg won Best of Show with his Hunahpu Clone<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #4 \u2013 Extreme Brew Challenge<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nDan Markey wowed the judges with his Strawberry Shortcake Lager<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #5 &#8211; HEAVY MEDAL<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis challenge honors\u00a0the brewer with the most wins at Commander SAAZ.\u00a0Laurie Giovelli\u00a0won this year!<\/p>\n<h1>2015 Brew Challenges<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #1 &#8211; HOPPY NEW YEAR!<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis challenge featured the new\u00a0Mandarina Bavaria\u00a0hops. Stephan Martinello was selected as the winner for his entry.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #2 &#8211; SWEET AS HONEY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nFor the challenge each brewer received 1lb of Webb&#8217;s World Famous Honey and brewed any style they wanted. Sean Gregg won with his Honey Cider.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #3 &#8211; SPRING FLING COMPETITION<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSAAZ was practicing for Commander SAAZ and held an Intraclub Competition. Congrats to Keith Allen for his\u00a0Saison.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #4 &#8211; Sch-WHEAT on Homebrew<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis challenge featured WHEAT BEERS, perfect for summer time drinking.\u00a0SAAZ\u00a0members judged the entries at the summer party and Dan Markey won the competition.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>CHALLENGE #5 &#8211; HEAVY MEDAL<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis challenge honors\u00a0the brewer with the most wins at Commander SAAZ.\u00a0Sean Gregg won and will be brewing a special beer at Playalinda Brewing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAAZ holds Intraclub Brew Challenges, approximately every quarter.
